Heywood Wakefield, established in 1826, was one of the oldest furniture makers in the United States. In 1976, a 140 page catalog was printed celebrating their 150th Anniversary. This catalog features their entire Early American line of furniture along with many interesting historical facts about the Heywood Wakefield Company. The furniture available below is part of Heywood Wakefield's Publick House Inheritance line. This 11" x 14" catalog will be offered free of charge with the purchase of a piece of furniture to the first customer who requests it or is sold separately for $30.

The Publick House Inheritance

"Solid.
A proud work for a proud collection. Publick House is built, painstakingly built, of solid maple. And Publick House is put together to be as solid as a block of New England granite. That was the furniture makers concept of Publick House when they started. And on that foundation of quality, the design that emerged drew it's own inspiration from the wood and the men who worked it. Publick House is extraordinarily warm furniture. There is a welcoming quality to it-like the warmth of the welcome that greeted travelers arriving at the original Publick House in Sturbridge, Massachusetts. This is big, generously scaled furniture built for years and years of comfortable family service. It says much about the people who live with it-people who love to entertain, people who enjoy the whole hearty business of living. Publick House is that rare combination of elegant design (see the burnished gleam of the authentic brasses) and the hefty warmth that is the unmistakable hallmark of fine American craftsmanship. Heywood worked with traditional solid woods in a way that brings the lustre and romance of a far off day to enhance the pleasures of today. The Publick House Inheritance-for the Tri-Centennial."
